Germany is looking forward to a 10% rise in Indian tourists next year, aiming to attract more visitors from India. The German National Tourism Board predicts that Indian tourists will record one million overnight stays in the country this year alone.
Petra Hedorfer, the CEO of the German National Tourism Board, expressed optimism about reaching this milestone. She said, “I am quite hopeful that we will reach 1 million overnight stays this year (by Indian tourists) and an additional 1 lakh nights next year for an additional 10% in 2025.”
From January to July this year, approximately 1.75 lakh Indian tourists visited Germany, leading to around 5,23,076 overnight stays. In total, over 2.32 lakh Indian tourists traveled to Germany in 2023.
Hedorfer added, “We are expecting a 10% plus for next year from your market,” indicating confidence in continued growth. The trend of Indian travelers visiting Germany has been on the rise for several years, especially post-pandemic. In 2023, Indian tourists generated 8,26,000 overnight stays in hotels and guesthouses, which is a 33% increase compared to 2022.
Germany is committed to enhancing its appeal to Indian tourists, hoping to solidify its status as a favored destination in the coming years.
